The foundation stone for today's globally active company was laid in Germany. The company VULKAN in Herne is one of the five production sites for the three business areas Marine, Industry and Energy and Refrigeration and A/C.
The business area Industry and Energy is one of the world's leading suppliers of flexible couplings, braking systems and bearings for the industrial market. VULKAN offers here a broad product portfolio for high-performance applications in the mining, oil & gas, materials handling, iron & steel and power generation industries.
At the Herne site, experts develop, calculate, design, produce and test the highly flexible couplings that are used worldwide under the toughest conditions. Here, complex torsional vibration calculations are prepared for worldwide orders and extensive tests and trials are carried out in the company's own test center. VULKAN products stand for safe, reliable and comfortable operation of industrial plants. In order to be able to guarantee this, the VULKAN Test Center has a unique test field with numerous test benches for a wide range of operating conditions.
In the in-house vulcanization department, elastomer compounds are developed in accordance with customer requirements. These compounds play a decisive role in determining the properties and load capacity of the highly flexible couplings. Thanks to in-house production and vulcanization on site, the customer receives a perfectly matched product from a single source.
Around 500 dedicated employees work at the traditional Herne site.
