VULKAN Takes Responsibility for Climate and Environmental Protection
VULKAN's sustainable business model successfully combines economic and ecological efficiency with social responsibility. Against the backdrop of our ecological responsibility, VULKAN's demands on energy efficiency, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG emissions) and a resource-conserving approach in our business activities are growing in the course of the energy and mobility transition.
Resource-saving and Sustainable Solutions
Against the backdrop of advancing climate change and ever stricter legal regulations, VULKAN develops and tests innovative products, processes and technologies for resource-saving and sustainable solutions in the fields of marine technology, industrial and energy technology as well as refrigeration and air conditioning technology. At VULKAN, for example, a dedicated team of specialists for hybrid and electric drives works on sustainable and innovative drive systems. VULKAN has also invested in the Franco-German company Magnoric, which has developed a new technology for cooling the refrigeration circuit without the use of refrigerant gases and for recovering waste heat.
Environmental Protection and Environmental Management
VULKAN regards environmental and climate protection as well as resource efficiency as important foundations of entrepreneurial activity and applies an appropriate environmental management system. Within this framework, we regularly review the current measures for environmental protection and work on the further development and improvement of the measures applied. VULKAN complies with all legal requirements for the protection of the environment and sustainability and does not tolerate any violations in the handling, collection, storage and disposal of waste. The development and use of land, forests and water is also carried out exclusively in compliance with the applicable legal requirements.
Energy Efficiency in Operations
The aspiration to conserve resources and reduce or avoid environmental pollution as far as technically possible and economically viable is firmly anchored in our Company Policy. Against the backdrop of the energy transition, we as an industrial company are striving to increasingly decarbonize our energy supply. To this end, VULKAN has, for example, installed photovoltaic systems at various locations worldwide, both in existing buildings and in new construction projects, which can cover a considerable proportion of our own energy requirements. In addition, we have been working for several years on gradually converting the lighting in our buildings to energy-saving LED lighting and are increasingly converting our vehicle fleet to hybrid or fully electric vehicles.
