The Christmas season is a time like no other for charity. That is why many locations organize local fundraising campaigns during this time to support the local community.

Wish Tree Campaign in Herne

This year, VULKAN Germany implemented a special campaign for the first time, which was suggested via the company's internal ideas portal. At the beginning of December, the Christmas tree set up at VULKAN headquarters was decorated with 44 wish cards from pupils at the Schule an der Dorneburg school in Herne. The special school, which focuses on emotional and social development, is also the clinic school of the LWL day clinic. Pupils from grades 1 to 10 are taught here according to the guidelines of elementary and secondary schools, and in some cases also according to those of special schools. The aim is to support and teach the pupils in such a way that they can return to mainstream schools. In addition, all pupils are given the opportunity to obtain a school leaving certificate. Thanks to the participation of many employees in the campaign, all wishes were fulfilled and presented at the school's Christmas party.

American VULKAN Corporation Organizes Toy and Food Donation

Together with the “Toys for Tots” toy collection and the “Heart of Winter Haven” food collection, AVC organized a fundraising campaign. Collection containers were set up at the VULKAN site in Winter Haven. Employees were able to donate toys and non-perishable food items.

Every donation – from board games and stuffed animals to canned goods and staple foods – was given to local non-profit organizations, which then distributed them to people in need in the community who are affected by hunger and poverty.

Honey Harvest for a Good Cause

Since spring 2024, two bee colonies have been living on the factory premises in Herne and busily producing honey: in 2024, more than 50 kilograms of the sweet “VULKAN's Gold” were harvested. The jars of honey were very well received as a special gift for customers, but also by the workforce. The proceeds from the 2024 honey harvest will be donated to Lebenshilfe in Herne, together with the proceeds from the internal donation box.

Several bees are sitting on a yellow honeycomb with visible hexagonal structures. The bees' wings are partially transparent.
