I-REC is an international standard that makes the origin of renewable electricity traceable and verifiable. For VULKAN, the certificate is a key component of our decarbonization strategy: By purchasing certified renewable energy, electricity consumption (Scope 2 emissions) is fully offset in accordance with the guidelines of the GHG Protocol.
Sustainability is an ongoing process for VULKAN. “Certifications like I-REC make our progress transparent and demonstrate that we are consistently implementing our goals. This commitment strengthens our future viability and is the result of the daily work and dedication of many colleagues on the ground.”, emphasizes Adriana Silva, Managing Director of VULKAN do Brasil.
Specifically, the certification contributes to the following areas:
- Transparency and corporate governance: Internationally recognized, verifiable proof of responsible energy management.
- ESG practices: Concrete measures through which we measure to measurably advance our sustainability standards.
- Energy transition: An active contribution to reducing emissions and mitigating climate change.
