TARGET Revision 21.2

October 2007

1. Aside from a few minor bug fixes, the big news in this release is a choice of styles for email quotes. When you email a quote (either single or bulk) there is a new field "Efmt:" with default value of "T" for "Text". With the value set to TEXT, the resulting quote will look the same as always. Set it to "H" for "HTML" and magic will happen.

If you want the default for your system to be H instead of T, change the control variable EQFORM in system controls. We suggest doing this only after you have confirmed that the HTML quote format looks the way you want it to.

The format of the resulting HTML email comes from a file stored on your TARGET system that provides instructions on how the email is built. Details on how to do this are found on our web site under "TARGET documentation for users". (See this here) When you install this update, a basic formatting file will be installed with it. This file will produce a quote very similar to the text version but serves as an example and starting point for those who wish to create their own.

The actual HTML formatting instructions can be quite complicated and involve font changes, colors, graphics, and all sorts of other things. Remember that this will be displayed in an email client not a web browser so javascript and some other "cool" things will probably not work.

Of course, we would be happy to build you a fancy one with graphics and more complicated layout. Call or email Kathy for details.

It is important to note that we are not suggesting that you send HTML-style email quotes to everybody. You should really do this only for prospects you know can receive and read them. Email is really a text medium and the handling of HTML (if any) varies among email client programs and operating systems. Your milage may vary.

Note that you will still see the list of pictures and such on the email screen, but the answers don't matter if you send an html email since the pictures are not attached to those anyway. We'll clean up the screen in the next release but we wanted to get this function out for comments as soon as possible.

2. The quote inquiry program (F6) now has a Select option; if you enter a quote number here, the system switches to the prospect who received that quote and displays the F4 screen for that prospect.

3. The Machine List Report (#11 on machine reports menu) now shows the purchase order number for each machine and has an option to sort by purchase order number.

4. You may now have WMV files associated with a machine; just follow the usual naming convention and transfer the file to the WMV folder on the TARGET server and it will be transferred to UEN (and thus your web site) automatically. We suggest NOT trying to email these. The size limit is 8Mb.
